Panama Mission: cindy ceballos

Our Missionary - Cindy Ceballos, working in Panama

Cynthia D. (Cindy) Ceballos is a missionary with the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church serving since early 2012 as community health coordinator for a ministry linked to an emerging church in Punta Delgadita, located in the central region of Panama. A nurse, she was formerly medical ministries coordinator of the Honduras Mission.

The relatively new church in Punta Delgadita was started by the Evangelical Methodist Church of Panama in an urban enclave surrounded by poor rural communities near Santiago, Veraguas. David is pastor and church developer in the region, which has relatively few Protestants. The congregation was chartered with 40 members and looks forward to growth, supporting ministries in health and education, as well as evangelism.

Born in New Mexico, Cindy earned her diploma in nursing from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Lubbock,Texas, and a BS in nursing from Lubbock Christian University. She worked in cardiac care and diabetes education at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock, and then for a pharmaceutical company, before beginning her service in mission.

Reflecting on her call to mission, Cindy explains that her efforts to build a career in the secular world became empty and unfulfilling."God began to show me that I could use my grace gifts in building God's kingdom, the only way to fill the void."

Cindy and David are the parents of six adult children: Tanji, Randall, Sasha, Mike, Sophia, and Gabriel. Her church membership is with Amherst United Methodist Church in Amherst, Texas.
